Terms of Service and Game Rules
These are the terms of service for Hulin Backrooms RPG (author: Hulin). By playing the web or PC version, you agree to these terms and the Privacy notice.
1. Game rules
- Fair play: Play the game yourself. Cheats, scripts, auto-clickers, AI agents, and any other tool that plays the game for you are not allowed. Do not try to tamper with dice results.
- Reporting bugs: If you find a bug, report it in the bug report channel of the official Discord. Do not deliberately exploit a bug or spread how to use it.
- Respect your teammates: The community rules also apply to what you say and do in the game. Do not insult or harass other players.
- Party etiquette: Respect your teammates when exploring together. Deliberately holding the party back, malicious voting, and going idle for no reason are not allowed.
- Accept the results: Dice rolls and votes are part of the adventure. Accept the results, and do not blame or exclude teammates because of them.
- Player names: In-game names must not be offensive or discriminatory, or impersonate others.
- Custom avatars: In-game avatars must not be offensive or discriminatory, impersonate others, or contain sexual, revealing, or otherwise inappropriate content.
- No disrupting the game: Anything that disrupts the game is not allowed, including creating rooms in bulk, malicious connections, and attacks on the game servers.
2. Scripts and automation
Not allowed
- Automation programs such as scripts, macros, and auto-clickers
- Browser extensions, AI agents, or other tools that play the game for you
- One person controlling several players at the same time
Allowed
- Accessibility tools and translation tools
- Features provided by the game itself
Behavior that may be flagged as abnormal
- Playing for very long stretches without a break
- Actions whose speed and pattern are unusually uniform, unlike a real person
Playing fast is not a violation by itself. The final call is made by the system, weighing everything together.
3. Penalties and appeals
- Players found to be using cheats, scripts, or automation tools, through system detection or a check by the admin, will be banned right away.
- For other violations that are confirmed, the developer reserves the right to restrict play or ban the account.
- If you believe a decision was wrong, join the official Discord within 14 days of the ban and file an appeal in the appeals channel.
- If the appeal is upheld, the ban is lifted right away and the related records are deleted.
- If you do not appeal in time, or the appeal is rejected, the ban becomes permanent and you will also be banned from the official Discord.
4. Play records
To keep the game fair, the system records how you play, including play time, the results and dice statistics of each run, and the results of anti-cheat checks. These are used only to detect abnormal behavior and to review appeals, and only the admin can see them. See the Privacy notice for details.
5. Accounts
- You sign in with a Google account. Your account is for your own use only and may not be sold, rented, or transferred.
6. In-game items and support
- Memory Shards, characters, items, floor postcards, badges, and the like can only be used in the game. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and may not be bought or sold outside the game.
- Content and numbers may be adjusted for game balance.
- Anything gained by exploiting bugs, through errors, or by breaking the rules may be taken back or adjusted by the developer.
- Support goes through Patreon, and payments and refunds follow Patreon's terms. Supporter rewards are in-game rewards.
7. Game content
- The game contains horror, dark, and heavy themes. Some levels show a warning before you enter; you can turn these warnings off in the settings.
8. The service
- The game is free to play and provided as is. It may be paused for maintenance or updates, its content may change, and it may be shut down.
- We do our best to keep your progress safe, but we cannot guarantee that data will never be lost.
9. Changes and interpretation
- These terms may change as the game is updated. Changes will be posted on this page, and continuing to play after an update means you agree to the new terms.
- For anything not covered here, and for the interpretation and enforcement of all rules, the developer, Hulin, has the final say.
